Kiaora I have a painting - "The Cornish Dames School painted c 1885 by Marianne Preindlberger-Stokes. It was brought to NZ in 1889 for the South Seas Exhibition in Dunedin 1889/90 Catalouge No: 43 in the British Oil Painting section. Do you have any historical records about how and when it came to NZ and to Dunedin and then to Christchurch. We had the painting at Glenelg Health Camp for many years. I think the painting originally belonged to either the Bowron Family or the Olliver family. Records that we had were lot in the Earthquake. I would be grateful for some feedback yours sincerely Helen Chappell Email: [email protected] or [email protected]
