Apricots are the main stone fruit produced in Central Otago. While most are shipped out of the district for sale or canning, roadside stalls cater to locals and visitors during the harvesting season.

I worked at a fruit cannery in Roxburgh in 1965. Would this have been it? I was on a working holiday from Australia. Some of the workers met by a river after work and had a bar and general gathering. Maori women sang haunting beautiful traditional songs. Good memories.
