The All Blacks have had a very fine record on tours of the ‘home countries’ (England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales). The first unbeaten tour was in 1924–25, when the ‘Invincibles’ team won all 32 games. However, that tour was marred by an incident in the game against England at Twickenham on 3 January 1925, when the New Zealand forward Cyril Brownlie, whose brother Maurice was also in the team, was sent off the field for rough play. It was the first time this had happened in a test match. The incident did not prevent New Zealand beating England 17–11.
