Story: Alternative health therapies

Tim Giles, the first chiropractor in New Zealand, worked in Dunedin from about 1910. This 1917 advertisement for his practice describes the ailments which chiropractors treat through spinal adjustment. A major selling point is the difference between chiropractic and more invasive forms of treatment such as medicine and surgery. The advertisement also distinguishes chiropractic from massage, perhaps in an attempt to make chiropractic appear more scientific.
