Enderby settlement promissory note

This note was used to pay the wages and salaries of workers at the Enderby settlement at Port Ross in the Auckland Islands. The bearer was promised payment of £1 sterling by the Southern Whale Fishery Company, which had been established by Charles Enderby to develop a major whaling enterprise based in the Auckland Islands.
