This treaty sheet is the only English-language copy known to have been distributed. It was received by the missionary Robert Maunsell at his mission at Waikato Heads when, by coincidence, a large gathering of Waikato–Ngāti Maniapoto rangatira was taking place. Maunsell convinced 32 of these rangatira to sign this sheet. It was then returned to Manukau, where a further seven rangatira signed.
