The New Zealand Hawks (wearing black and white striped singlets) have the better of this action against an Australian Institute of Sport team. After the ball is thrown in from the sideline by an umpire, there is scrappy play before the ball hits a post and crosses the line for a behind (worth one point) to the Hawks. The Australians restart play with a smart interchange of kicks and handballs, but a long kick forward is marked nicely by a Hawk, who kicks a drop punt to a teammate nearer the camera. His kick is marked and, after a tussle for the ball, a Hawk scores a goal (worth six points) from an acute angle by kicking the ball between the goal posts.
