Story: Sports reporting and commentating

Peter Bush photo

Video file

In this interview Peter Bush, New Zealand's pre-eminent rugby photographer, discusses a photograph he took of four Wellington All Blacks in the shower after the third test match against the Wallabies at Eden Park in 1982. The four players were Allan Hewson (fullback), who scored what was then a world record number of points in a test (26), Murray Mexted (no. 8 forward), Stu Wilson (centre) and Bernie Fraser (wing). As Bush comments, such a photo would no longer be possible in the era of professional rugby, where access to changing rooms is much more heavily guarded.
