Story: Subantarctic islands

Shearwaters, the Snares (1st of 2)

This clip from the 1995 television documentary Islands in the storm shows the massing of huge numbers of sooty shearwaters (Puffinus griseus, tītī or muttonbird) around the Snares in the evening before they land to go to their burrows in the bush. There are millions of these birds around the islands.
