David Petterson's Manawatū farmhouse was burgled by two teenagers, who took $80,000 worth of goods. They were arrested, found guilty and ordered to pay reparation, but could not afford to. Subsequently, their parents were ordered to pay, but successfully appealed the decision. In this 2009 documentary David Petterson talks of his frustration at the outcome.
