ACC cuts protest

Cuts to Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) counselling for victims of sexual abuse sparked protests in 2009, including this Auckland rally. The changes meant sexual abuse victims had to be diagnosed with a mental injury caused by the abuse before they could qualify for counselling. Proving such a link was particularly difficult for people who had suffered abuse in the distant past.
