Story: Tourist industry

Lord of the rings landscape

Parts of Peter Jackson’s Lord of the rings film trilogy were filmed in dramatic settings in the Lake Wakatipu basin near Queenstown. In this video, Ian Brodie, author of The Lord of the rings location guidebook, points out some of the filming sites. Many tourists are attracted to New Zealand by the diversity of landscapes.
