This video clip shows blackcurrants being mechanically harvested on Murray Stephens’ orchard at Irwell, near Christchurch. In 2006 New Zealand produced around 9,000 tonnes of blackcurrants. Most were processed for juice, with the rest sold as fresh fruit or made into jam or health supplements.
