Story: Men and women in the city

Raiding brothels

Until 2003 soliciting was illegal, and police occasionally raided brothels to arrest prostitutes. One such raid occurred in Auckland in 1993, and police seized condoms to be used as evidence. As a result brothel owners were reluctant to keep condoms on their premises. In this clip Auckland Prostitutes Collective co-ordinator Bridget Galvin talks about the impact on sex workers.
