This 1964 stamp depicted a road sweeping through New Zealand and a driver's hand on a steering wheel. It was one of the first stamps to address a specific social issue. While health stamps had existed since 1929, they were more of a charity effort and were not aimed at changing values. This stamp issue was made in support of National Accident Free Day, as part of a road-safety campaign.
