Lighthouse stamp

In 1947 Castlepoint lighthouse became a national icon when it featured on the halfpenny Government Life Insurance stamp. The lighthouse was the symbol of the state-owned insurer, privatised in 1990 and now trading as Tower Limited. Its logo is still a lighthouse.
