Wharf at Otehei Bay

Wharf at Otehei Bay

American adventurer and writer Zane Grey discovered the Bay of Islands and its big-game fishing in the 1920s. His novels soon spread the word beyond New Zealand. Grey made his base at Otehei Bay on Urupukapuka Island. This photograph shows the wharf (with a large transom for weighing fish) in 1947.
