The Mōtū challenge

The Mōtū challenge

The Mōtū challenge has several components: 65 kilometres by mountain bike, a 17-kilometre run, 52 kilometres by road cycle, and final stages of kayaking (27 kilometres), road cycling (8 kilometres) and running (3 kilometres). The race starts and finishes in Ōpōtiki, taking a route along the coast, up the Mōtū Road and back to Ōpōtiki through the Waioeka gorge. Here a contestant tackles the kayak stage of the race.
