Story: Floods

Rees Street (2nd of 2)

City street filled with flood water.

Lake Wakatipu continues to inundate Queenstown occasionally when existing high levels are topped up by heavy rain or rapid snowmelt in the Southern Alps. In this view, looking down Rees Street on 16 November 1999, the water level has nearly reached the window sills of the hotel in the background.
