Traditional dance: Filifest

Members of the Filipino dance group Filifest perform at the CubaDupa festival in Wellington in 2015. The group was established in 2005 to promote Philippine culture through traditional dance, music and costume. The dances in Filifest's repertoire span various eras in Philippine history, depicting courtship, harvesting and other rituals and folk stories. Filifest performs regularly throughout the country and at important occasions for the Filipino community, such as Philippine Independence Day.
