Formed in 2001, the Auckland-based Impulse Dancers performed mainly traditional dances. These included the popular ‘bamboo dance’ Tinikling and Pandango Sa Ilaw (pictured). ‘Pandango’ comes from the Spanish word fandango, a lively dance characterised by stepping and clapping. Pandango Sa Ilaw dancers balance candles on their heads and the back of each hand.
