Stephen Bambury's paintings, which range in size from small to huge, explore and reconnect the apparent dualities of light and dark, negative and positive, masculine and feminine, the sea and the land, the intellectual and emotional, and the organic and architectonic. Bambury was commissioned to create an artwork that would sit between three speakers – he called the resulting painting ‘Ideogram’, which is a graphic symbol that represents an idea or concept. While on first glance it appears to be abstract, the word 'Hi-fi' becomes apparent on close inspection.
