
Archaeologist Janet Davidson (centre) is photographed before attending church during one of her field-work expeditions in Western Samoa in 1964 and 1965–66. She also worked in Moorea, in the Society Islands, and at Nukuoro, in Micronesia. Davidson went on to a distinguished career as an archaeologist at Auckland Museum, the University of Otago and the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa in Wellington.
