Kevin Butson with his creation

Kevin Butson, from Temuka, earns his living making scenes and props for films and commercials. This creation was made for the Japanese movie Dororo. Butson first assisted in the making of movies in 1999. He has helped make sets for The last samurai, which was shot in Taranaki and starred Tom Cruise, James Cameron's Avatar and Jane Campion's Top of the lake. Set and prop construction is one of the many businesses that make up New Zealand’s screen industry.
