Zoology students dissect crayfish, about 1926

Students at Canterbury College dissect crayfish in a zoology laboratory, about 1926. Biological sciences were taught in the University of New Zealand from the 19th century. Only a limited amount of original research was carried out in the early years. This began to change after 1947, when research-based doctorates were introduced.
