White Creek Fault, Murchison

White Creek Fault, Murchison

During the Murchison earthquake of 17 June 1929, a section of the White Creek Fault ruptured, producing a scarp over 4.5 metres high in the upper Buller Gorge. A few days later these motorists surveyed the fault scarp, which was an obstacle until the road was realigned.
