John Davidson and fellow scholars, 2005

Victoria University professor of classics John Davidson (centre) is recognised for his work on Greek tragedy and the reception of classics in New Zealand poetry. He collaborated with New Zealand literature specialists Geoff Miles (left) and Paul Millar (right) on poet James K. Baxter's extensive use of classical mythology in his writing. Their book, The snake-haired muse: James K. Baxter and classical myth, was published in 2011.
