Pākē – rain capes, London, 2011

Crew on the newly built ceremonial waka taua (war canoe) Te Hono ki Aotearoa wearing a variety of specially made pākē (rain capes), as they approach London Bridge during the City of London Festival in July 2011. Within the festival the kaihoe (paddlers) delivered workshops and presentations on aspects of Māori art and culture. This photo was taken by Davorin Fahn – a photographer working on behalf of Toi Māori Aotearoa – Māori Arts New Zealand Charitable Trust.
