The Majestic Cabaret, Auckland, 1934

The Majestic Cabaret Dance Band perform for a crowd enjoying high tea in Auckland, in 1934. Despite the depression of the 1930s, cabarets, nightclubs and movie shows continued to provide Saturday night entertainment for those who could afford it. Dance bands tried to keep up with the latest American fashions in music and dance.
