Blackberrying, 1930 (3rd of 3)

Blackberrying, 1930

Going blackberrying was a late summer and early autumn task. The warmth of the sun, the delight of hunting and collecting, and the sweet tartness of the berries (always eaten as well as picked for home use) made it particularly enjoyable. In this 1930 photograph members of the Cartwright family, Helen, Rita and Will, pick berries at Old Mine Clearing in Mōkau.
