New Zealand Hockey Association senior life member Hilda Poulter (left) presents the K Cup, then women's hockey's premier regional trophy, to Hawke's Bay captain Margaret Hiha in 1975. Hiha (Ngāti Rangitihi, Te Arawa) was one of New Zealand hockey's outstanding personalities. From a sporting family, she represented New Zealand internationally and served as coach, selector and administrator. In 1992 she initiated the first National Maori Hockey Tournament, since held annually.
