KiwiSaver housing subsidy

 KiwiSaver housing subsidy

Since the early 20th century the state has provided, to a greater or lesser degree, housing subsidies for some home buyers. In the 2010s the KiwiSaver superannuation scheme offered a $3,000 subsidy to first-time home buyers who had been in the scheme for three years. Among those to take advantage of the measure was Kim Jennings who, in 2010, put the grant towards a deposit to buy a two-bedrooom home in the Auckland suburb of One Tree Hill.
