Story: Primary and secondary education

Home schooling

Home schooling

Some parents choose to educate their children at home, and they receive an annual state grant to purchase learning materials. Some of these children also take Correspondence School classes. Shown here are four sisters participating in an art class, in 1989. They are (from left) Sarah (12), Rachael (nine), Teresa (six) and Angela (three), with their mother and teacher, Christina Coward.
