Soldiers of New Zealand's Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) inspect an NZAID project in Bamyan province, Afghanistan. The PRT acted as the project manager in Bamyan for New Zealand Aid Programme (NZAID) teams. NZAID is the aid programme of New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The PRT had to plan its inspection tours on an ad hoc basis, as a regular schedule would have exposed troops to a greater danger of ambush. Commentators in New Zealand asked how effective an aid programme could be when it was managed by troops who were in Bamyan for only six months.
