Mature students, Wairarapa Community Polytechnic, 1990s

The Wairarapa Community Polytechnic opened in 1989. Because most Wairarapa school-leavers continued to seek tertiary education in larger centres, mature students dominated the polytechnic’s enrolments. These students are attending a Māori studies course in the early 1990s. Wairarapa became a campus of the Universal College of Learning (UCOL) in 2001.
