Courses: trainee butchers, Manukau Technical Institute, 1976

The Manukau Technical Institute (which later became the Manukau Institute of Technology) was the first purpose-built technical institute – it was not carved off a technical high school like the others. It opened in 1970. A meat-processing school was established in the early 1970s. These trainee butchers are serving customers at the institute’s retail shop in 1976.
