Marotiri and Tokomaru Bay

Marotiri and Tokomaru Bay

In the 21st century Tokomaru Bay, formerly a port and service centre for neighbouring farms and stations, is host to artists and craftspeople. The stores in this image evoke earlier times in the township’s history. Marotiri, the ancestral mountain for the local hapū, Te Whānau-a-Ruataupare and Te Aotāwarirangi, is in the background.
