St Mary’s church: interior

This interior view of St Mary’s church at Tikitiki highlights the amount of carving. Apirana Ngata wanted to revive Māori arts and crafts, and the work on the church was carried out partly to that end, with traditional designs featuring on the tukutuku (woven) panels.
