Tribunal site visit, Wairau

Tribunal site visit, Wairau

During district inquiries, members of the Waitangi Tribunal often make visits to sites of significance to claimants. These photos show a site visit to the Wairau Bar, near Blenheim, during the northern South Island inquiry in 2000. Above, claimants Rore (left) and Vern Stafford of Ngāti Rārua indicate early sites of occupation on the bar. Below, claimants, their lawyers and tribunal members gather during the site visit.
