Prime Minister Peter Fraser shakes hands with King Korokī in 1949. Korokī, the fifth Māori king, was part of an unbroken line of succession in the Kīngitanga, beginning with the first Māori king, Pōtatau Te Wherowhero. In 2011 Te Arikinui Tūheitia Paki was king.
