Bishop Brian Tamaki

Bishop Brian Tamaki

Brian Tamaki wore a korowai (a traditional feathered cloak symbolising chiefly authority) for his ordination in 2005 as Bishop of the Destiny Church. He is seen here beside his wife Hannah (second left) and Richard Lewis (far right), leader of the Destiny New Zealand political party. The party was formed in 2003 and gained 14,000 votes in the 2005 general election, but was deregistered in 2007.
