Potter Barry Brickell, who lived and worked on the Coromandel Peninsula from the 1970s until his death in 2016, established the Driving Creek Potteries and Railway at Coromandel township. He is shown here working in his studio in 2008, creating one of the distinctive terracotta pots for which he is known. Working with local clays, he used a coiling method to build up large sculptural forms.
