Trainee priests from Holy Cross seminary, 2010

Trainee priests from Holy Cross seminary, 2010

In 2010 there were three centres training priests for the Catholic Church in New Zealand, all in Auckland. They were the Good Shepherd national theological college, the Marist seminary (whose graduates often worked as missionaries and out in the community) and Holy Cross diocesan seminary (whose graduates often served as priests in their own local parishes). These 2010 Holy Cross seminarians are pictured at Weller's Rock near Dunedin, where Bishop Pompallier celebrated the first Mass in Otago. They come from South Korea, the Philippines, Vietnam, Sudan and India, as well as New Zealand.
