Story: Midlife adults

Intergenerational living

Intergenerational living

Pacific Islanders often support family members financially and in other ways throughout their lives. This is 58-year-old Leotina Esekielu (second from right), her daughter Iutita (second from left) and Iutita's two children, Dawn and Gabriel, at the home they share in Auckland, in 2008. Iutita and her adult sister, who also lives in the family home, pay most of the household bills, and Iutita's father (not pictured) cares for Gabriel while Iutita works at the Auckland High Court.
