Story: Older people

Rest home (4th of 5)

Rest home

Rest homes provide complete care for older people who can no longer look after themselves. Residents have their own rooms but usually dine together and can use communal facilities such as gardens. Some rest homes have hospitals or dementia units on site. Staff organise activities for residents such as music sessions and crafts. 100-year-old Ada Henderson is cutting a ribbon to open the elderly olympic games at her rest home in Dunedin in 2008.
