Hastings revitalisation

Hastings revitalisation

In the mid-1990s Hastings District Council began to revitalise the city’s central business district, which had become run-down and had empty shops. Heretaunga Street is the main shopping and business street. Its appearance was enhanced by new street furniture and lighting, refurbishment of the central pedestrian plaza (foreground) and the installation of sculptures and outdoor artworks.
