Hastings revitalisation

Hastings revitalisation

In the mid-1990s Hastings District Council began to revitalise the city’s central business district, which had become run down and with empty shops. Heretaunga Street is the main shopping and business street. Its appearance was enhanced by the erection of new street furniture and lighting, refurbishment of the central pedestrian plaza (foreground) and installation of sculptures and outdoor artworks.
