Story: Ngā haumi a iwi – Māori investment

Hui Taumata

Hui Taumata

In 1984 a Hui Taumata (Maori Economic Summit Conference) was held at parliament. One legacy of the hui was that it gave impetus to a Māori-focused economy. A number of rangatahi (youth) were included as part of this programme, including Paul Te Huna (left), Tony Waho, Judy Kiripatea and Elizabeth Kerekere.
