Steam ferry graveyard (2nd of 2)

Steam ferry graveyard

This undated photograph of the steam ferry graveyard on Browns Island (Motukōrea) in the Hauraki Gulf shows the skeletons of the Victoria, Takapuna, Birkenhead, Tainui and Alexandra. The oldest of these ships, the Tainui, began work in the 1870s. Larger ships, like the Victoria and Alexandra, were built in the 1880s.
