Kotahi Mano Kāika

Kotahi Mano Kāika

This young surfer is using a Kotahi Mano Kāika branded surfboard. The name means ‘a thousand homes’, and is part of the web strategy by Ngāi Tahu tribe to create 1,000 Māori-speaking families. Ngāi Tahu dialect is another strand of the strategy, to promote ‘Kāi’ Tahu (Ngāi Tahu) reo (language).
