Mountain biking

Makara Peak, at the western edge of Karori, is a mountain bike park. It has tracks for beginners through to expert or extreme riders. Some routes are steep and rough, and can only be ridden in dry weather. At the summit there are views across to the South Island and north to Kāpiti Island and the Tararua range. The biking trails identified on this signpost at Makara Peak include top New Zealand and international rides.
